Project: Cheadle Civic Society Heritage Trail - Heritage Copywriting and Editing
I was commissioned by Cheadle Civic Society to shape and refine the copy for a new public Heritage Trail in the village. The project involved writing and editing multiple public information boards located at key sites.
The brief required a copywriter who could turn detailed historical research into clear, engaging content suitable for a broad audience. The boards needed to be historically accurate, accessible in plain English and cohesive as a series — all within strict word limits due to design.
The project required sensitive handling of community history, careful editing and strategic thinking to ensure the boards worked individually and as part of a larger story.
The result
The finished Heritage Trail (launching 2026) presents Cheadle’s history in an informative, accessible and engaging way for residents and visitors alike.
